All high end phones are bonkers these days expensive as F. Taking pictures in darker room is a no go, the camera is pretty poor for such a high end phone when it came out.īeen looking for the Fold 5 but i can't justify the price it is bonkers. So my fingerprint scanner is done for, will not get fixed. ![]() Only 2 years firmware updates then it is over. Hate the battery life on this thing! It is garbage.įingerprint scanner not working anymore because of Sony last couple of firmware updates, they broke it but no fix. The 5 III design spoke to me and the awesome OLED screen (only thing i like about it)įirst thing i was annoyed with was no back-up application on windows to transfer my Samsung stuff to the Sony phone, had to be done through google cloud took me about 3 days. I came from a Galaxy Note 10 and wanted something else for a change after al these years with Samsung. I absolutely hate my 5 III can't wait to ditch this phone in the corner and go back to Samsung phones. Also, the Apple ecosystem feels like a prison for anyone with a modicum of technology inclination and that notch ruining the screen is a far inferior option to just having bezels, it's a solution looking for a problem rather than useful design IMHO. It does have a more powerful chip than the Snapdragon on the Sony and longer security updates, however, as a package, the V Mk 5 is a far superior option, more so when in 3 months the price inevitably gets discounted. Furthermore, the non pro version of the iPhone15, the one that is actually competitive with the 5 MkV also eschewes the optical zoom cam module. If one uses iPhone it means the differentiation the Xperia phones offer are not important, that however doesn't mean it's not a better device if the user is interested in a headphone jack, expandable strage, above 480Mbits transfer speeds (the MkV has a 3.2 controller up to 20Gbs), better photography without intrusive post processing, a muted design language that is tasteful, better ppi screen, a dedicated camera shutter, a photography app with actual useful settings, monitor output via USB-C, over 7h screen on time, and so on and so forth. Lower your prices and make it a bit more competitive. (But I'll probably end up with a Galaxy □ because I don't think I can leave android) I can't believe I am now considering an iPhone. The iPhone is priced at £799 (128GB, same capacity as 5V), and I highly doubt Sony will sell the 5V for less than that.Īll I am saying is, Sony needs to price their phones better! If they are priced similarly to the iPhones or better yet cheaper even by just £100, I wouldn't hesitate to get one. With the removal of the telephoto, it also seems like the 5V is being positioned similarly to the regular iPhone 15. But knowing that Apple is already notorious for selling their devices with sky high margins, it's a bit harder to justify buying a 1V that is more expensive. I get it, there are many features in the 1V that probably add to the price. ![]() I know that iPhones and Sony can't be any more different, but learning that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is £100 cheaper than the 1V, it feels ridiculous to buy the 1V even though its features and design draw me to it. ![]() Now after Apple's recent launch event, I don't know anymore. However, seeing the bezels and the likelihood of getting a pink line again made me reconsider. Before the launch of the 5V, I was also considering that. I was actually planning to keep the 5 III longer but I got the pink vertical line 1.5 years in. I currently have the 5 III, and thinking of buying the 1 V. A little bit of personal reflection here haha.
